World Tourism Network, Planet Happyness, Institutul Internațional pentru Pace prin Turism și SunX s-au reunit pentru Ziua ONU a Fericirii Turismului – și s-a arătat.

The webinar provided opportunities to discuss and learn about: 

  1. The origins and global significance of the Happiness and Well-being Agenda;
  2. Linkages between well-being measurements, sustainability in destination planning, and the SDGs;
  3. How destinations can use the Happiness Agenda for their branding and marketing advantage;
  4. Happiness tools, resources, and approaches available to destinations to advance their competitiveness;
  5. ​The power of story-telling and digital innovation to support tourism and happiness.

Fericirea Planetei is tourism and big data project of the Happiness Alliance, a US registered non-profit.  Planet Happiness works with destination stakeholders to measure resident and community well-being in tourism sites and re-purpose tourism development by positioning host-community well-being front and center.

Paul Rogers Co-Founder and Director of Planet Happiness, called upon destination managers to take the initiative and recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, by recognising the imperative to value and measure tourism’s contribution to destination well-being. 

Planet Happiness provides destinations with the tools and resources to achieve this.  It has local partnerships measuring the happiness and well-being of tourism communities in Vanuatu; George Town, Malaysia; Ayutthaya, Thailand; Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, Canada; Victorian Goldfields, Australia; Hoi Ann, Vietnam; Bali; and the Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) National Park; Nepal. 

The mission of Planet Happiness, a member of the Rețeaua Mondială de Turismk and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, is to focus the attention of all tourism stakeholders on the well-being agenda; and use tourism as a vehicle for development that demonstrably strengthens ​destination sustainability and the quality of life of host communities.  Its approach aligns with and helps measure movement towards, the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

An Australian first was launched on March 20, the International Day of Happiness, across the thirteen local government areas that make up the Central Victorian Goldfields region. The Happiness Index survey – a powerful global tool that asks communities about their quality of life – is helping put the region’s communities front and center in tourism planning for the Central Victorian Goldfields World Heritage bid. Deployment of the survey is a partnership between the World Heritage bid’s thirteen local government
